GTI Fashion Showcase 2017

GTI Fashion Showcase 2017 opens on Monday 27th of March with an exhibition of Photoshoots at BORN, Newtownsmith which can be viewed until Wednesday 5th of April at 6pm in the stylish surrounds of one of Galways most glamorous shops. Thursday 30th of March sees Anthony Ryan’s shop window come alive. The models in the window will be wearing creations by talented GTI Fashion Students. The theme of GTI Fashion Showcase this year is “THE CREATIVES”.

The GTI annual Model Walk, which puts the spotlight on the amazing creations of new generation emerging GTI Fashion Student talent, will take place on Thursday April 6th. An abundance of fashion, hair and makeup innovation will be part of this very special college event. See Galway City Centre become a catwalk as up to 40 models wearing the most creative and stunning designs from GTI Fashion Studio, walk from GTI at approx. 5.00pm. The route will take the models across Wolfe Tone Bridge, to Spanish Arch, through Quay Street, Shop Street and up to Cara Pharmacy in Edward Square and back to GTI. Be in Shop Street at 5.45 for best views!!

Fashion Showcase Live Window Displays

On Tuesday 21st April , the fashion students of GTI brought the windows of Glitzy Bits to life in a bid to promote their Fashion Fiesta Showcase. The live models wore spectacular creations made by new generation emerging GTI Fashion Designers. The theme of the window was centered around “The Movies” which was inspired by Galways involvement with UNESCO.

GTI Fashion Showcase 2015

GTI Fashion Fiesta showcase 2015 opens on Monday 20 April with an exhibition of Photoshoots and Designs at BORN, Newtownsmith which can be viewed until Wednesday 22 at 6pm in the stylish surrounds of one of Galways most glamorous shops.   Tuesday April 21 sees Galways shop windows come alive with a series of amazing “Live” windows in Antony Ryans Shop Street  and  Glitsy Bitz, Eyre Square Centre. Expect the unexpected with spectacular movie themed displays. The models in the windows will be wearing creations by talented GTI Fashion Students. The theme of GTI Fashion Fiesta Showcase this year is “THE MOVIES”, inspired by Galways involvement with UNESCO. The GTI annual Fashion Show, which puts the spotlight on the amazing creations of new generation emerging GTI Fashion Student talent, will take place in The Main Campus of GTI at 7.30pm on Thursday 23 April.  An abundance of fashion, hair and makeup innovation, entertainment, surprises and spot prizes will be part of this very special college event. This amazingly creative student event is open to the public free of charge but donations will be gratefully accepted for local charity. MC for the event is the ever –inspiring Fashion Industry dynamo Patricia McCrossan, of Galway Now Magazine and founder of the prestigious Irish Innovation Awards. Theres an extra special not- to be- missed event before the show so be sure see the stunning “Model Walk”, when the City Centre becomes the Catwalk, as up to 80 models, wearing the most creative and stunning designs from GTI Fashion Studio, walk from GTI at approx. 5.30pm. The route will take the models across Wolfe Tone Bridge, through Quay Street, Shop Street and up to Brown Thomas and back to GTI for the Fashion Show and entertainment to follow. Insider tip – be in Shop Street at 5.45 for best views!!

Nicola Hughes, a talented fashion retail student attending GTI, took inspiration from the “hippy movement” of the 1960’s and 1970’s. Fashion in these decades consisted of bold patterns and bell bottoms. Hippie fashion and values heavily influenced the music scene during these decades, for example the Beatles, who were another means of inspiration for Nicola’s shoot.

Sinead Hehir, a fashion retail student of GTI, took inspiration from all things 90’s when styling her photo shoot. Fashion fads of the 90’s ranged from Spice Girl inspired platform shoes to the bright hued clothing found in tv shows such as ‘Saved by the Bell’ and ‘Fresh Prince’.

Fashion Fiesta by Erin Pike

This years Fashion Fiesta was held on Thursday 3rd of April. The theme chosen was a beautiful nightmare. A model walk started in GTI and continued up through shop street and then on to the House Hotel where an amazing fashion show took place. Students from GTI organised the show and all classes including Hair, Beauty, Security and Fashion Industry Practise collaborated to put on a wonderful show.

The Fashion Fiesta is held every year in GTI, and the aim is for students to showcase their work and raise money for charity. This is the 5th year of the Fashion Fiesta and all proceedes raised went to Cancer Care West.

Launch of Fashion Fiesta by Erin Pike

 

The launch of this year’s Fashion Fiesta was held in Born clothing in Galway city on Wednesday 19th of March. This picture is of the stunning live models that were there to greet people. They are wearing outfits designed and made by students in GTI. It was a great way to promote the fashion fiesta as we had invited local business’s,photographers and members of the public to come along.

Students from Poise Beauty and Concept hair salon were therer to give manicures and style hair. Also students from the Fashion Industry Practise class showcased photoshoots that they had styled. All in all it was a lovely evening and set the excitment for the Fashion Fiesta on the 3rd of April.

Here are some pictures from the photoshoot that i did as part of our styling module in the Fashion Industry Practise course. I picked a 1960’s/70’s hippy theme as i love this style. I decided to do the photoshoot in the dark and called it hippies in the night.

I used some of the techniques we learned in the illustration techniques & practise class to create a radial blur on this picture & change it to black & white.
